- What image formats are supported?
- Geotag Editor supports JPEG, PNG, and TIFF files. JPEG is the most common format for photos with EXIF metadata.
- Is Geotag Editor free?
- Yes, Geotag Editor is completely free to use. There are no watermarks or hidden fees.
- Are my photos uploaded to a server?
- No. All photo processing happens entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your images never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy.
- What is EXIF metadata?
- EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is data embedded in image files that stores information like GPS coordinates, date and time, camera settings, and more. Geotag Editor lets you view and modify the location and date/time fields.
- Can I edit multiple photos at once?
- Yes. Upload multiple photos and they will all receive the same location. You can set a time interval so each photo gets a sequentially incremented timestamp.
- Can I geotag scanned film photos?
- Yes. Film cameras don't record GPS or date metadata, so scanned negatives and prints are missing this information. Upload your scans, set the location and date, and download — they'll be correctly organized in Google Photos, Apple Photos, and other gallery apps.
- Does it work with drone photos?
- Yes. Some drones record inaccurate or non-standard GPS data. You can use Geotag Editor to correct coordinates by pinpointing the exact location on the map.
- Can I process HEIC files from my iPhone?
- Yes. Geotag Editor automatically converts HEIC files to JPEG for processing. Simply upload your HEIC photos like any other format.
- How does the batch time interval work?
- When you upload multiple photos, an interval picker appears. It sets the time gap between consecutive photos. For example, with a 60-second interval, the second photo's timestamp will be one minute after the first, the third two minutes after, and so on. Set to zero if all photos should share the same timestamp.
- Will my photos appear on the Google Photos map after editing?
- Yes. Google Photos uses EXIF GPS coordinates to place photos on its map and timeline. After adding location metadata with Geotag Editor, re-upload the photos and they'll appear in the correct location.
